Veteran “Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program” (RRTP)
What is the ASPIRE Center?
The ASPIRE Center is a 40-bed residential treatment facility designed to promote recovery in Veterans, particularly those who returned from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Center provides a safe, comfortable living environment. Evidence-based, recovery-oriented treatment is provided to eligible male and female Veterans of all ages who desire to once again become fully independent and self-sufficient members of the community. Based on the individualized treatment plan, the average stay from admission to discharge ranges from 90-180 days.
Services:
The Center provides multiple treatment modalities, including but not limited to:
- Case Management/Social Work/Peer Support
- Recovery Focused Vocational/Educational Individualized Assistance
- Psychotherapy – Individual and/or Group
- Occupational Therapy
- Educational Classes
- Leisure Activities/Socialization Groups
- Medication Management
- Complementary/Alternative Therapies – referrals available
- Posttraumatic Stress Skill Building/Exposure Therapy
- Traumatic Brain Injury - referral for Neuropsychological Assessment available
- Cognitive Processing Therapy
- Prolonged Exposure Therapy
Intake Criteria & Procedure:
All Veterans will undergo a screening process, by the Admission Team (which includes Psychiatry, Nurse Practitioners, Nursing staff, and other professionals) prior to being given an admission date.To be admitted, the Veteran must:
- Be eligible for VA healthcare services;
- Be mentally and medically appropriate for the rigors of the program;
- Be motivated to participate in all treatment components of their individualized treatment plan;
- Willing to remain free from non-prescribed substances during their treatment;
- And be compliant with all program rules (inability to follow the basic rules of the program can lead to consequences up to and including discharge from the program)
Upon graduation from the RRTP program, the Veteran will transition to his or her chosen place of residence with plans to live independently or with the assistance of a VA Case Manager, if indicated. Follow-up appointments are created within the VASDHS or at the referral VA for continued care on an outpatient basis.
