VA San Diego Healthcare System

In an effort to improve Veterans' access to care, VA San Diego now offers direct appointment scheduling for Audiology and Optometry.

We are happy to announce that VA San Diego Healthcare System now offers enrolled Veterans the opportunity to directly schedule routine ear and eye appointments with Audiology and Optometry clinics.  This means you do not need a Primary Care referral before scheduling routine ear and eye examinations.

Who Qualifies?

All Veterans who are enrolled in the VA system, including traveling Veterans and those unassigned to Primary Care Doctors, can schedule an appointment without a Primary Care referral.  Please keep in mind that this is for routine appointments, such as ear and eye exams.  But, other routine procedures are also included.  For more information regarding specific Audiology and Optometry services covered, please call the number below. 

What Do I Need to Do?

You can schedule Audiology or Optometry appointments directly by calling Audiology:  (858) 623-1891 or for Optometry:  (858) 552-7475 or by speaking with staff at VA San Diego Healthcare System facilities where these services are provided. 

• Audiology services are available at the San Diego VA Medical Center and VA Community Clinics located in Mission Valley, Chula Vista, and Oceanside. 
• Optometry services are available at the San Diego VA Medical Center and at VA Community Clinics located in Mission Valley, Chula Vista, and Oceanside.
