VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS) opened a remodeled area of the fourth floor Community Living Center (CLC) last week after a year-and-a-half long renovation project, the first of two phases in CLC. “We want to make the patient rooms more home-like, private, quiet and comfortable to achieve a patient-centered feel,” said Jeffrey Gering, director/CEO of VASDHS.

The area features 12 individual, private rooms, along with a kitchen and physical therapy room open to inpatients seeking short term or complex wound care. According to Project Engineer George Miksch: “we changed the wall colors dramatically,  employed different lighting features, used different materials like larger wooden doors, and made many other changes to improve the look.”
