The VA Mission Valley Clinic and Regional Office building will be temporarily closed all day Tuesday, May 1, 2012, due to a power outage caused by damaged underground electrical cables.   SDG&E is working on replacing the cables.   All appointments have been cancelled today, and patients with scheduled appointments have been notified.   The VA Emergency Command Vehicle is on site at Mission Valley for urgent care.  Minimal staff will remain at the clinic and the rest of staff will be assigned to the medical center.

  • The county has issued a “NO USE” order due to a suspected ricin contamination of the county’s water supply
  • All patient appointments are cancelled system-wide until further notice.
  • All COBCs will be closed as soon as all patients leave the premises.
  • We are accepting emergency patients at the medical center.
  • We are reviewing options for treating in-patients onsite of moving to other VA facilities outside San Diego County.
  • Please direct media inquiries to David Haas, Acting Public Affairs Officer, david.haas2@va.gov.
  • A media staging area is set up across from the bus stop in front of the medical center, however there are no briefings scheduled at this time.
