Primary care is a team of caregivers (doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, etc) who work together to provide comprehensive medical care. We provide primary care through the following clinics:

Firm Clinic

The Firm primary care team focuses on general medicine and preventive care. Firm appointments are available at the medical center and the community clinics at Mission Valley, Vista and Chula Vista.

If you are a new patient to the FIRM, you will be assigned to a Primary Care Provider according to the last digit of your social security number. Odd numbers are FIRM Gold, even numbers are FIRM Blue.

Services include:

• preventive care (includes wellness, immunizations, lab screening)
• diagnosis treatment
• medication management
• referral to specialists
• pharmacy services
• nutrition services

Access Clinic

The Access primary care team provides specialized and preventive medical care for patients with the following conditions:

• Diabetes: Type 1 and complex Type 2 diabetes
• Cancer and blood disorders
• HIV infection
• Dialysis patients
• Complex lung diseases

The Access primary care team provides care at the VA Medical Center in La Jolla.

The Women’s Clinic primary care team provides medical and gynecological care for women including general medicine, pap tests, mammography, contraception, sexually-transmitted disease testing, and menopause management. Women’s Clinic primary care is available at the VA Medical Center and at the Mission Valley Clinic.
